Not sure what to say?

Michael was the best guitar player in Chico, CA. growing up in the late 60's and early 70's and ironically he was unknown there. Mike was that guy who would go directly home after our Pleasant Valley High school classes and practice his playing all afternoon and into the evenings in his bedroom. He was shy, a closet musician but I'd seen his talent early on. I played lead guitar in a number of the local Chico rock bands and Michael was an inspiration to reach further in my own playing...

Thank you, Michael, kindred guitar spirit. Every time I play a unique and beautiful guitar, I will think of your unique and beautiful heart and soul. bg

Michael was a beacon of light and inspiration. Among other so many other gracious and generous gestures, he offered to do sound for me at a concert at the Espresso Garden in 2003 - and expected nothing in return (though I insisted on giving him some compensation for his great work). He always had a hug and a smile for me when I walked through the door at Gryphon. He was such a "glass is half full" person ... and I admire him for that. I am saddened to hear of his passing. I didn't realize...

Michael was a treasured advisor in regards music, a generous and creative soul who showed great courage and determination in his struggle with cancer. I have missed seeing him at Gryphon and on stage recently, and feel for those closest to him, as they work to make sense of such a loss. Michael improved the world where he touched it. Be at peace, buddy.

Michael was such a great guy, and a wonderful guitarist. His sunny disposition was such a welcoming beacon to anyone who walked in the door at Gryphon Stringed Instruments. His music was among of the finest of the modern acoustic fingerstyle guitar repertoire. Plus, he was a great rocker as well.

No matter how bad he was feeling during his illness, he always exhibited a strong will to survive and enjoy life as much as he could. I will miss him greatly.

Michael will be missed. I am especially thankful to Michael and Roxanne for their kind and thoughtful help with my wife who was undergoing treatments for breast cancer. I always enjoyed speaking to Michael since he had a fun easygoing way about life. He is one of the folks that enrich one’s life and make our own life’s experience better because we had time with him. I am saddened by Michael’s passing and would like to thank him for being part of our lives. Thanks, Patrick and Tina Ford
