Michael V. Curcio, 71, of Pen Argyl, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born on September 1, 1949, to Vito and Olga (Brescancine) Curcio. Michael graduated from Pius X High School in 1967, and went on to attend and graduate from DeSales University (Allentown College) in 1971. Michael initially worked as an elementary school teacher at Immaculate Conception School before working at the family business, Dally Slate, for over 20 years, and also operated Albion Laser Concepts with his son. Michael was best known for being a loving and devoted husband to Karin (Dally), his wife of 44 years; the very best father to Matthew Curcio, of Morristown, NJ, and to Kate Curcio Graziani, of Nazareth, PA; a jackpot father-in-law to Erin and Anthony; an adoring nonno to Max and Blake Curcio and Gioia and Marco Graziani; a loyal brother to William (Marion), of Sparta, NJ; and a proud uncle to John Dally, III (Andrea), Anthony Dally, Sarah Dally Rotchford (Jamie), Alison Dally, Marisa Daggett (Dennis), and Chris Curcio (Sarah). He was also a trusted source of treats to his dog, Murphy.
Michael was also survived by his mother-in-law, Marge Dally; his brothers-in law, the Honorable Craig Dally (Ann) and John Dally, Jr. (Susan); and his aunt, Norma Abbott. In typical Italian fashion, he was a beloved cousin to many and a cherished friend to countless others.
Michael could be found in the bleachers at every one of his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events; doing countless hours of landscaping at his home that he built on Mary’s Mountain in 1986; or at the home of his best pal, Bill Jackson.
Michael was a voracious reader, a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, and the consummate gentleman. Earlier in his life, Michael was an avid hunter, skier, and cyclist. Those who have had the pleasure of spending time with Michael in recent months witnessed a man undeterred by his physical limitations, the circumstances of which he never lamented. Even as his physical constitution degraded under the burden of Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple System Atrophy, Michael’s spirit never waned and his wit remained razor sharp.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 12 P M, Monday, July 19, 2021, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, 300 W. Babbitt Avenue, Pen Argyl. There will be a visitation beginning at 9:30 AM until 11:45 AM, Monday at the church. Interment will be held privately at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, Pen Argyl. The Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, Pen Argyl is in charge of arrangements.
