DUFFIELD, VA – DWAIN DINGUS, AGE 68


 


Michael Dwain Dingus, age 68 of Duffield, VA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 11, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dwain was born in Kingsport, TN on June 19, 1956 to the late Pat Dingus and Irene Owens Dingus. He was a member of Three Bells Methodist Church and also attended Pendleton Free Will Baptist Church. Dwain was a banjo picker extraordinaire, an accomplished guitar player and also did upholstery. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his nephew, Shannon McClellan.


Dwain is survived by his wife, Debbie Dingus of the home; daughter, Elizabeth Church (Michael); son, Joshua Dingus; granddaughter. Amethyst Church; sisters, Sandra Lane and Teresa Lane (Larry); brothers, Tony Dingus (Wanda) and J.R. Gibson (Judith); several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.


The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Pendletons Freewill Baptist Church beginning at 6 PM. A funeral service will be held the following day at Pendletons Freewill Baptist Church on January 17, 2025 at 12 Noon with Pastor Sean Bailey and Pastor Kevin Sanders officiating. Music will be provided by Mike Brickey, Millard Edwards and Hollow Ground. Interment will follow at McNew Family Cemetery in Stanleytown. J.R. Gibson, Jon Hall, Jacob Beaver, Aaron Dingus, Reggie Lane, Josh Kegley, Tony Manis and Lowell Marshall will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Whited and Michael Church.


Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Three Bells Methodist Church and/or Pendleton Freewill Baptist Church.


The family would like to extend a special thanks to Rhonda Hillman, NP, Ballad Oncology, the nurses and patient techs in Wilcox Hall at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Great guy, pick on Dwain !

I worked with Dwayne for several years at HGC. Great guy & excellent banjo player. I can still hear him playing Ruben´s Train.

I am so sorry for your loss. I only learned of Michael´s passing today. I worked with him at Holston Glass; he was a very sweet man and I´m sure he will be missed.
