Not sure what to say?

The most underrated drummer of his generation, his playing was much loved and is missed by many, but thankfully it will live on forever. Late but sincere condolences to his family

Almost every Subway we visit, I ask them if they remember you... most do & loved working with you & your family... Every single employee I´ve met at your stores were polite, helpful & happy. You have created a Legacy and Your efforts live on... I met your Family at the boat show in St Pete... offered to get them onboard Simplicity... for good times sack. You were a good Man! Enjoy the Heavens ol´ friend...

Michael, Your smiling face and friendly presence is remembered & missed... Gods Speed...

There are no words for how much I loved his beautiful playing. I was so saddened to learn that he had passed on. His glorious music often floods our home, and always will. Deepest sympathies and best wishes to his family, and Godspeed to you Michael.

In the music world, in Jazz, he will be remembered as a great musician, and very original drummer and percussionist. Sincerest condolences to his family. His music is still in the air.

I heard Michael perform in 1982 with the Jan Garbarek/Eberhard Weber band. He was the most 'musically sensitive' percussionist I've ever heard, and the finest ever to have recorded on the ECM record label . His phrasing was Incredibly inventive. He had complete technical command but played the role of accompanist with perfect intuition. I've been fortunate to see the performances of many drumming 'legends', but it remains Michael's that I am the most thankful for...

One of the greatest drummers I have ever heard. Very few drummers have achieved his level of musicality, finesse, mastery of sound, time, and space. Every time I listen to a recording of Michael I am filled with gratitude that he lived and shared his unique talents with the world. My sincerest condolences to his family. May his memory be a blessing.

Martina, I was so sorry to hear of Michael's passing! Our deepest condolences.

I spent a Christmas day with you and Michael in the early 80's in your upstate Connecticut cabin and will always remember it fondly.
