Michael Patrick "Bubs" Downey Jr.

On August 1st, 2023 our beloved son, brother, and uncle Michael P. (Bubs) Downey, passed away at the age of 46, after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family. Bubs was born on October 13, 1976 to Michael E. and Anna M. Downey in Everett, Wa. 

Bubs was a graduate of the Blanchet high class of 1996. Bubs spent his working career in the trucking industry and his offtime running farm machinery and working cattle on the family Ranch in Ellensburg, Wa. Bubs spent many winters growing up with his family and friends on Stevens Pass with Clancy Ski School group and Muk Meadows Ski Team (officially known as: Jr. Mayor),  where friendships and memories were formed for life. He also had very strong interests in hunting and fishing and spending long summer hours on Wrangler, his Grady White boat.

 Bubs was preceded in death by his brother Michael John, grandparents Kenneth C. and Anne M. McDannald, and Edward J. and Marjorie M. Downey. He is survived by his parents Michael E. and Anna M. Downey, sister Sara Downey, niece Lizzy Albaugh, uncle John (Noel) Downey, Godparent Dr. Patrick Brust, Brad Botta, Madelyn Botta, Brent Botta, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition, special friends Casey Burr and family, and Ryan Anderson and family.

 The celebration of life will be held in his honor on September 16th from 1:30- 5:30 pm at Hotel Indigo in Everett, WA. Memorial contributions can be made to the Ellensburg Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame and Washington State Elks Crippled Children's Fund.
