On this Memorial Day honoring fallen veterans and heroes, we remember our dear friend, Colonel Mike (Gabby) Duva, who was taken from us far too soon. We treasure the many years we shared your friendship and you will forever be in our hearts.

Gabby,
From your first trip to L-Z Grump for a Muster to the Meals that we enjoyed together your leaving will leave a large gap in the lives of the XO and Myself.
You were family from day one until you left all of us unexpectedly. You will continue to march under the Command of Sky - 6.
We will meet agin my Warrior Brother.

I only met Duva once, but that was all it took for him to make an incredible impression. He was one of a kind, possessing incredible intelligence, character, and wit. He was also a skilled story teller, able to hold his audience captive with words alone. He was the kind of person that you could listen to for hours....and never tire of his stories or the manner in which he told them. The USMC, USA, and world in general have lost one of the great ones with his untimely passing. OO-RAH, my friend!

There could be no better ambassador for The Corps or America. He impressed everyone he met with his affability, intelligence, and integrity. Flying was a childhood dream, and he was always happiest when he was "up there." I know he's once again "up there," enjoying ideal flying conditions, because I can still hear his wise...

Gabby: Did not know you long but you made sure I knew you well. I will miss your stories and the enthusiasm with which you told them. A great Marine who accepted this soldier as your friend. R.I.P.

Another great Marine has left to join those warriors who went before us. I enjoyed his wit and humor in the emails he shared with many of us. Rest easy now Gabby - for we have the watch!

Gabby,
From the The Basic School through Flight School and to Command, we've been together a long time. You were always a great friend and Marine. Selfless in thought and deed, you always helped those who needed help. Your wisdom, fun loving spirit and friendship will not be forgotten. Rest in peace my friend.
