Not sure what to say?

Dear Cheryl and Family, I just heard of Michael's death last night. I am still shocked about the news. He was a great help to me as my lawyer and became a helpful friend. My deepest sympathy to all of you. God Bless.

Dear Cheryl and Family. I was shocked to hear about Mikes passing tonight. I wish I would have know earlier than today. I would have come to his wake and funeral. Sorry and God Bless all of you. Joseph Myrick

I lost track of Mike after high school but it looks like our paths almost crossed in several states. We were near neighbors it looks like in a couple of places and had similar interests and passions. I regret not bumping into him. It would have been a real joy and was very proud to hear all that he accomplished.

Mike and I had a mutual friend Ed Albert. In fact Mike kind of hand me Ed Albert when Mike left Humboldt County and told me he would be a good friend. Ed Albert died in May 2010. At the time I emailed Mike about Ed's death.

I stumbled upon Mike reply to me just now and thought it prophetic:

"Ah, hell. It was just like him to take the smartest exit. Two things are purely true about Ed. First, unconditional generosity was the essence of his soul. Second, he stopped and...

I received a phone call less than an hour ago telling me that Michael died six weeks ago,so I am still in shock. I think people assumed that I had heard but, unfortunately, this was not the case. Judi and I left town on a 3,300 mile road trip the morning after, it turns out, that Mike died. I feel so sad. He was such a great friend to me when he & Cheryl lived here in Eureka. My deepest sympathies to Cheryl & their sons. I'm not sure what else to say right now ...

10-8-11 Mike, Cheryl, Alex and Murphy- Mike, your passing is our world's great loss, and the next world's great gain, wherever or whatever that may be. I fondly recall our times together at Enterprise High School, and working (well, sometimes working) at the Red Lion Motel with Dowight, Larry, and Rod Wiburg. I will never forget your graciousness and hospitality when we visited with you in Chicago with my wife Sally and my sister Heidi. I will always remember your smile, humor, charm...

I remember Mike in elementary school, was sweet and nice boy. My heartfelt sympathy to his family and love ones for your loss.

I remember Mike reciting the Gettysburg Address in 5th grade. A requirement he relished. The west side gang will miss you.

I just heard the horrible news of Mike's death.
He and I attended elementary school together, and at 11, he was my first official "boyfriend". He was a sweet boy with a great mind and wonderful sense of humor; serious and wise beyond his years.
My heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends and loved ones for your loss. I am so very sorry. He was truly a special guy. The world is less without him.
