Michael “Mike” Harper Felder, age 68, passed away peacefully in his home in Madisonville, LA on February 26, 2022. Mike was born to Marjorie Fossier Felder and James Monroe Felder of McComb, MS on May 5, 1953, in Augusta, GA.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his beloved siblings James Monroe Felder, Jr “Jim”, and his sister Marjorie Shirley Keenum (Pat). Brothers-in-law Julius A. Mire, Thomas H. Mire, John M. Mire, and Robert E. Mire; Nephews Beau Mire, Jonathan Mire; Niece Laura Mire Dorsa.
Mike is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 42 years Jan Mire Felder and their 3 children Kathryn (Katie) Felder, Kelly Felder Barrios (Chet), and Michael J. Felder; and his sister-in-law Brenda Felder , brother-in-laws James E. Mire (Linda), Paul L. Mire (Debra), sisters-in law Kathy Mire Martinez, Susan Mire, Annette Mire; his loving nieces Paige Henderson (Steve), Yvette Oxford (Tillman), Colleen Weimer (Pat), Kasey Courtney (Toni), Dawn Lenox, Holly Keenum, Shelly Mire York (James), Carrie Mire Bernard (Kurt), Betty Mire Dileo (Michael), Maleah Mire Westenhaver, Jennifer Mire Fraker (Chris); Nephews Shane Keenum, Dr. Blane A. Mire (Jennifer), Michael Mire (Michelle), Matthew Mire (Amanda), Thomas Mire, Drew Mire, Bobby Mire (Lisa), Jared Mire (Sarah).
Mike grew up in New Orleans, LA and attended Mater Dolorosa and Lusher before moving to Slidell, LA, which he considered to be his home, the summer before the 5th grade. In Slidell, he attended Florida Avenue Elementary, Slidell Jr. High, and graduated from Slidell High School in 1973 where he had participated in Football, Track, and the Key Club. Mike then went on to be a Ragin’ Cajun at USL in Lafayette where he graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology. He then went on to a successful career in sales specializing in heating/refrigeration and HVAC sales achieving national salesman of the year for his company in 1994. Mike was a big fan of the great outdoors and could usually be found spending quality time with his family and friends on camping, fishing, hunting trips, and enjoyed showing his children the world on family vacations sight seeing. Mike had many relatives, many of whom were not related by blood, and he was an honorary member of the Fandal family which is where he learned to hunt and fish. He loved big bear hugs, football and the Saints. He was a very talented carpenter,/plumber/ eleclectrcian and jack-of-all trades kind of guy who enjoyed wood-working and renovating his old craftsman style home.
Mike believed in a strong work ethic and putting his family first in everything. He loved his family immensely and would do anything for them.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Catholic Funeral Mass at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME,1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 11:00 A.M.
Interment in FOREST LAWN CEMETERY.
Visitation on Friday after 9:00 A.M. until funeral time.
