Dear Marlena--I am so sorry to learn of Mike's passing. And knowing how deeply he loved you (a reality that was clearly and continually evident over the decade I knew him), I can only imagine your feelings of loss. I really enjoyed and appreciated Mike; his sincerity and thoughtfulness were great gifts to all of us at Ronald McDonald House Charities, where he served on the board with such distinction. I'll never forget his humble request to serve on our Fundraising and Marketing Committee....

Mike, I'm already missing our lunches at the Stockpot after our Saturday round of Golf. After 20 plus years of spending Saturday mornings with you & Jerry, it became a habit. We talked about family, your date night, the girls cheer, my girls travels and Jerry's golf trips, and what Morgan's golf lesson consisted of that week. Mike was a colleague, a client, a friend and a golf buddy. He was a consummate professional lawyer and a loving and devoted husband and father. I will always remember our trip to play golf at Sandpines and Brandon Dunes. He was always a straight shooter!

I am so saddened. 2018 was a terrible year for losing two of the most important men of Blazers history. Paul of course was the most well known throughout the world, but Mike was such an integral part of Blazers history, he was just as important. Throughout my time in Human Resources, I had many dealings with Mike and loved and respected him so much. His sense of humor and common sense got us all through the good times, but also through the tough times. My thoughts and prayers are with...

Mike impacted me on many different levels. First, as a colleague with the Trail Blazers, he was one of the first senior level executives to embrace and support the Portland Fire and I will always be grateful for that. Secondly, he and Marlena became role models for my husband and me, telling us about their infamous date nights and reminding us to make time for each other. It was always fun to run into them on their date nights when we were on ours! Then, it was sharing his teen age girls...
