Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord... I can't even remember how I found him on Facebook. It could have been a mention in an old BBS post, or perhaps on one of the other forums I frequented. I loved "Eifelheim" and recommend it to all and sundry. I enjoyed his wide-ranging posts on history and science, and his musings on statistics fed my nerdy soul. He will be missed.

I want to share something that Michel wrote back in January 2013. In remembrance of our mutual childhood friend, Daniel Hommer-a distinguished physician with the NIH who died unexpectedly-Michael said, "There are no friends like the friends of childhood. I agree with Michael´s gentle, truthful observation. To my childhood friend, I say, "Farewell," and to those who loved him, I share your sorrow.

I want to repeat something I read years ago, something that Michael himself wrote back in 2013 when Daniel Hommer passed. Daniel was one of our shared childhood friends on south side Easton--and a distinguished physician--who died well before his time. Michael said, "There are no friends like the friends of childhood." Thank you for that gentle truth, Michael. So, to my childhood friend, Michael, I say "Farewell," and to all those who loved him, I share your sorrow.

I first met Michael on a Heinlein message board back about 1998 and we had many debates about just about everything on that group, and Michael was always nice. I finally met him in person in 2006 at the World Con in Anaheim CA, that was my only time meeting him in person. We were Facebook friends, so my casual friendship with him was all online. I am sadden by his passing but I look forward to reading his books I have not gotten to. On a bit of bragging, Michael used several of the Heinlein...
