Michael Frankowski Obituary

Michael Frankowski, 68, widower of Diane "Henri" (Janusek) Frankowski, of New Britain, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015 at home with his children by his side. Born in Strzegom, Poland and was son to the late Franciszek and Katarzyna Frankowski. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and had been employed by Goodrich Corp. and previously by Pratt and Whitney before his retirement. He will be remembered most for always putting family first. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, playing ping pong, watching soccer, and the UConn Women's Husky Basketball team. Since retiring in 2013, Michael enjoyed serving as President of the Polish Falcon's Ping Pong Association in New Britain, where he was an active member. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his children: Thomas and his wife Lucy Frankowski, Michele and husband Brian Jehning and Laura Frankowski, a brother, Edward and his wife Barbara Frankowski, a sister, Marysha and husband Stanislaw Konc, his precious two grandchildren; Callie and his buddy Cole (Heniu), and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by siblings: Irena, Regina, Leokadia, Wladyslaw, Rafal and Stefan and a brother-in-law: Richard Koluch. Funeral services will begin Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 10:30am for a brief gathering at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by his funeral liturgy at 11:30am in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. I know how much family means to the two of you and how close you have been to your parents. Michele, I remember first interviewing you many years ago and one thing that struck me immediately was your strong sense of family and commitment. I am so sorry for your loss but know you have may wonderful memories that will carry you forward.

Michele and Brian,
I am so sorry for your loss. It is quite obvious through the beautiful photos that you and your family put together that your dad had a great love for your mom, his children and grandchildren. I hope that as time goes on the sadness in your hearts will begin to fade and the joy of your memories will take it's place.
My thoughts and prayers are with you both.
Love, Patty Hahn

There are many things I learned from this man. The two most important: Learn to give and live life to the fullest. He changed my perspective on life, my view of the world. He was smart, funny, and so generous. He loved to read and was way more educated than he ever gave himself credit for. He was as humble as they come, except on the ping pong table of course.

I will miss my 3 AM meetings with him, when I would be grading school papers and he would be working in the garage, and we would share that 4 AM cup of coffee and ask ourselves why we were so foolish to be up at that hour. His response was always the same..."My grandkids need the money and I'd like to take you guys out for breakfast." He worked for his family, never for himself.

Mike, I truly will miss you. You meant alot to me. It always was inspiring to see how you Stood Up To Cancer, never complaining one bit. Please rest in peace, no more suffering.

Love you,
Brian - your son in law.

I am so sad at Mikes passing. He was a wonderful man and in the short time I got to know him he showed how caring humble and honest he truly was. He accepted me into his world with open arms and made me feel very comfortable. I know how much he cared for his family especially in his relationship with his son. It was obvious that Mike was a strong man with high moral values. His family friends and co members of the Falcon club as well as me will miss him dearly.

Michael was my mentor at Goodrich in table tennis, he motivated me in running two successful tournaments. We all knew what the outcome was going to be. Michael was the two time open Champion by far, no one was even close. Then by the goodness of his heart he invited me to the Falcon Club and took my playing to another level. I will always be grateful for that.
The [Goodrich Family], now Triumph will dearly miss him.
