Not sure what to say?

Very sorry to read of his passing, and condolences to his family and friends.

At the Longmeadow High School newspaper he taught us journalism, a pursuit sadly moribund today. Along the way he taught us how to write, and that has served all his former students well in life, no doubt.

He expanded our horizons in the class on Asian civilization (the year he traveled to India with his co-teacher, Mr. Santos). He knew obscure facts about the world that I re-discovered...

Thanks to you and your wife I had a best friend in High school, Your Daughter Michelle. I also was a student in one of your history classes. Thank-you for both of these gifts. Rip and love to your family.

Thank you for your wonderful memories of our dad

Greatly saddened at the loss we all feel at Mike's passing. Mike was a talented historian and a skillful teacher, making us all better, but more importantly , he was a faithful husband, a caring and devoted dad and a proud grandfather.
I treasured him as an LHS colleague and longtime friend as my memories began at Cathedral High School, (1962) , flourished for nineteen years at LHS, (1969-88 and celebrating good times in Maine.( 2015&16).
Blessings , support and...

I want to send my condolences to Michael's family and friends. He had a good life and certainly helped to make this world a better place. He will be remembered as an historian, a teacher and a friend. His work with the Longmeadow Historical Society did much to preserve the real history of this unique New England town. I thank him, as I did in life, for his support of my early efforts in teaching at Longmeadow High School. His interest in film and film studies encouraged...

Mike was the faculty advisor to the LHS student newspaper, the Jet Jotter. When I was EIC, he took the editors to New York city for Columbia University's Journalism conference. In addition to the conference, he took us to two Broadway plays and sparked a love of theatre that became central to my life. I live in NYC in large part to Mike introducing me to this vibrant, culturely rich city. I'm just one of hundreds of students who's lives he positively influenced.

Very sorry for your loss. Mr Gelinas was one of my favorite LHS teachers. I remember his smile, energy, and encouragement.
