I want to extend my thoughts and prayers to Mike's family and friends. This is undoubtedly a terrible time for all of us and all we can do is cherish the time we spent with him. I also graduated with Mike in 2005. The last time I saw him was when he was home in 2007 for Christmas. He is a great person and I am a much better friend and overall person for getting to know him. I regret not having spoken with him for a while but I will try to do my best to follow in his footsteps. RIP Mike.

It was an honor and privilege to served with Petty Officer Gentile. Although my interaction with him was limited, he displayed the qualities of a fine sailor with a great sense obligation and duty. The nation has lost and good man. Your family will always have the support of submariners past and present. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

As a fellow submariner, please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Michael. Although I never met him, I know that as a "Brother of the Phin" Michael brought life to the words Duty, Honor and Country. May he rest in peace.

The Submarine Veterans of Maine wish to extend their condolances to the family of Petty Officer Gentile. The true hero's of our country today are the one's who give their lives in the service of our country. Michael is a true hero.
