We were all surprised and saddened to hear the news. My mother always loved Michael and was always saying, "I love when he calls me cuz."

I ran into him about two years ago at the Carlsbad Cavern and we had a delightful evening talking the Goodwin founders of Tempe, his theartre project, and his political career to which I remember all the way back to 4th grade.

When I was in architecture school at ASU in the early 1970's Michael Goodwin was already a legend. I finally met him when he spoke to our 5th year pro-practice class while he was serving in the AZ legislature. We had many fine moments together over the next 40 years and being in the College of Fellows with Michael was a rare privledge...such a special guy. The community of architects has lost a titan.

Michael was an amazing part of Arizona and the Episcopal church in Arizona. My love and prayers are with everyone.
