Not sure what to say?

It has been many years since we crossed paths with Mr. Grace, as we called him, but each time we met we left feeling so uplifted. He did us the greatest favor of sharing some of his jazz band with us at our daughter´s wedding. Lindsay, you had a great dad!

I´m so sorry to hear the news of Mike´s passing. He was a great friend and teacher plus I learned a lot from him from my many trips to Community High. I had no idea he was having health issues. I would have visited him if I had known. I´m sure he will entertain many angels with his wit and musicianship. Mike will be remembered and cherished.

It was with great sadness that I heard of Mike´s passing. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Our son David (1985-2019) graduated from Community High in 2003 and chose to be a student there specifically to be in Mike's jazz band program. Mike taught David to be an outstanding jazz bass player, but perhaps more importantly, he taught David about responsibility, commitment, and so many other important aspects of adult life. I had the pleasure of joining Mike and the jazz band when they attended a competition festival in Toronto, and I was so impressed with everything Mike did as a music...

Mike was the primary reason I chose to attend Community High School, as the jazz band was spectacular. He offered countless opportunities for his students to grow as musicians and professional quality education, but he also had a fantastic sense of humor that drew people in and made them want to stay. Some of my fondest and funniest memories of high school were the times spent in band with Mike. I am so very grateful to have known him and have appreciated conversations and birthday greetings...

Single Memorial Tree

Mike was favorite teacher and friend. I started taking lessons with him in Ann Arbor in 1982 while I was in high school until I graduated from Siena Heights University in Adrian Mi in 1988. Mike has enriched my life musically, professionally and above all personally. I think of him often, especially his poetic words of wisdom.

Sheryl, Lindsay and Perrin - although you moved to Canada we still think of all of you as neighbors. Mike was aways eager to chat and talk about all kinds of things and especially music - We will always remember Cheryl's famous Grover Grace Potatoes - our family loves them so I make them often - and remember the when you eagerly introduced them to us at your house. We will miss Mike - his outgoing personality and caring nature ( even though he moved years ago) - his devotion to...

Mike was such a gracious and lovely man, friend to all, mentor to many, devoted, Disney best teacher in America, family man and so much more. I´m certain hundreds would say he was among their best and most cherished friends. Deepest sympathies to his family. He will be missed always. The jazz bass player provides the subtle rhythm and foundation to a song, and Mike´s personality spread similar to those who knew him.
