GRIMES, Michael Roy, Jr. – Of Flint, age 36, died Friday, March 17, 2017 at his residence.



Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 North Adelaide Street, Fenton, Father David Harvey officiating.



 



Burial in Flint Memorial Park.



 



In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church-Fenton Gift Campaign or the Humane Society of Genesee County.



 



Visitation 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.



Michael will be at the church from 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of the Mass.



 



Michael was born in Flint, Michigan on November 23, 1980, the son of Michael Roy Sr. and Kimberly (Webb) Grimes.



He graduated from Linden High School Class of 1999.



 



Michael was a loving person with a tender heart. Everyone that knew him loved him.



  



He was an avid U of M and Detroit Lions fan and loved all sports.



 



He enjoyed hunting, reading, fishing, going up north and especially loved spending time with his family.



 



Michael started his UAW GM career at UAW-GM Delphi Steering in Saginaw and was a proud and active member of UAW Local #699. He continued on to Flint Truck Assembly and was a proud member of Local #598. Michael was also employed at UAW-GM Human Resource Center in Detroit as a UAW Special Assign Rep.



 



He was a very strong and active member of the UAW and the Democratic Party. He had a strong respect and admiration for President Obama and President Clinton.



 



Surviving are father, Michael Sr. and wife Karen Grimes;

grandmother, Sue Boyer;


 



siblings, Charity Thomas, Heather and husband Larry Welch, Sarah Dangcil and Katherine Grimes;



 



special friend, Lorrie Thomas;




dog, Sammie;




nieces and nephews, Chance, Dillon, Riley and Maci Thomas, Makena and Bryson Welch, Atlyahna, Cohen and Rhet Dangcil;




many aunts and uncles;




special cousins, Jay Grimes, Megan Phelps, Brett Carswell and Chris Webb.




He was preceded in death by his mother, Kimberly Grimes; grandparents, John and Venita Grimes, Christopher Thomas, Marie Webb and Alan Boyer.




Michael will be sadly missed and forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Oh My Michael and Karen,

I just became aware this morning of the passing of your dear Son Michael.

Obviously no mere words can express how heartbroken we are for the both of you. Know this, you two are in our thoughts and prayers. with the Good Lords help we'll find a way. I surely don't know what that way will be, but have faith as I know you do.

Keeping the Grimes family in my prayers. It's hard to find words of comfort when I myself, feel sadness of hearing of Mike Jr. passing. Let's find strength in memories, in the days ahead. Let's us not think of it as gone away , but that he's has begun another journey; this earth is only one facet. Only our sadness can pass away and Mike Jr. is living in the hearts of those he touched. I only knew Mike for a couple of weeks, but he brightened up my life. I am so sorry for your loss.
