Not sure what to say?

Mike, my brother and I had a little three-piece band back in Greenville in the mid-70's. Mike was the kindest, most generous, most peaceful cat I ever knew. After his accident I went to visit him at the rehab center in Greenville. I remember being profoundly inspired by his attitude while facing that immense loss. He was not feeling sorry for himself, he was contemplating how he was going to continue his music by learning hammer dulcimer when he could no longer play guitar. He not only...

I knew Mike briefly when I was in graduate school in Greenville, NC. He was a sweet, gentle person, and extremely musically talented. I always went to hear his band , when they played. May he rest in the Loving Arms of God. Nina Freifeld-Giles

I met Mike many years ago at our annual "Family Reunion". What an inspiration to everyone he met. His talent was never ending and when he began singing we all came out of the wood. Dance with the angels now my friend.

Mike, was a positive energy. encouraging and sharing with friends his love of life. I am proud to be one such person. I give thanks to God for knowing Mike Hamer.

I join my sorrow to all those who mourn Mike's passing. Got to know Mike back in 1967 - a soft-spoken, gentle person with a soul full of music; the poetry nesting in him was given expression in his songs; always reminded me of Paul Simon. His indomitable spirit after his debilitating accident was an inspiration to all who knew him and a living source of encouragement in the midst of any hardships we might encounter.
May he rest in peace.

I always enjoyed Mike's presence. Space filled up wherever he was, whenever we played music, talked, carried on. His humanity I shall keep to help me get through the days. My love in celebration of his life and our memories.

mike grew up a neighbor of mine he was such a caring person always smiling even though he went through so much after he was in a swimming accident he was a role model for staying positive and carrying on he was a great musician and guitar player. I loved mike and will always remember him

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. My husband Ron was a para and was in organizations with Mike. Will never forget his smile. Wishing you strength during this time. Your memories will help and no one can take them away.

Mike will always be one of Greenville's bright lights in my memory.
His positive and compassionate life was pure inspiration. THANK YOU.
