Taken at Mike's parents house

I just found out about Mike's passing today, my heart feels a little heavier now even though part of it has been taken away.

My family and I were the "across the street" neighbors of Mike and Julie when we first moved into our house on W. Chestnut cir in 1992. Mike was one of the first to welcome us to the block and our family's quickly became friends. We had children the same age and Mike always set the example of the father that I hoped to be.

Back then, he didn't have the...

As Karl so apprpriately told me - "My heart aches with sadness". I miss my friend so much. I wish to thank Julie for giving me the incredible gift honoring me to speak at Mike's service. What follows is my tribute to Mike spoken at that service:

Rarely does someone as special as Mike enter your life. Mike entered mine 10 years ago when I was doing a contract job locally and we formed an instant bond. I quickly found Mike to be someone I could count on. If I needed something, he...

Jules,
Our hearts ache for you and the kids. Mike was taken from us too soon. Our kids will forever have memories of Mike behind the wheel of the boat taking everyone around Lake Fenton/Lake Zurich until the daylight was gone. He had such a passion for living and his spirit will live on in your beautiful children. We will continue to pray for you and hope that the pain you have today will subside with time. We love you, Dean, Lynn, Zach, Hannah and Mitchell

Julie:

I don't know where to start, but first and foremost my heart aches for you. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband, for you and your entire family. When my girlfriend from CP called me and mentioned your name, it put a big smile on my face, wonderful memories came flooding back from years past, then..she told me what happened, and even though we haven't seen each other in years it didn't stop the sadness that washed over me. Your in my thoughts and prayers at...
