Fond memories of Michael from high school. Mary Stone Klingelhofer

I met Mike in 1985 on a hike with the Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club, and thus began a multi-year friendship of hiking, climbing and camping. He was extremely interesting and truly one of the most fascinating people that I called friend. Life and geography intervened, and it's been several years since we last spoke, but I surely have not forgotten him nor the adventures we shared. I learned of his passing yesterday (9/09/2024) and I admit it took me aback. I found it hard to comprehend he...

I just found out about Mike´s passing. I worked for his father, Graham, for many years. I also worked and for his brother, Bill. Both of them were very kind and compassionate. Mike also carried on the tradition of compassion and kindness. So sorry to hear of his passing, however, in reading his story I realize things I never knew about him, and what a great and bountiful life he had! The Haynie family all have a special place in my heart. Love and prayers.

Mike and I met in Sept 1949 at Wasena Elementary and went thru Woodrow Wilson Jr and Jefferson Sr, graduating with the Class of '61, the last class before PH and the "new" WF opened. Last saw him at our 50th class reunion and talked a lot! Mike was quite the character, affable and personable. My sympathies to Mike's family.

Mike Haynie and my late husband, Mike Cooley, were friends at Jefferson High School, Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church, and the US Army Honor Guard in Arlington, VA. Mike was also an usher in our wedding in 1965. My sympathy is with you at this time of grief.
