Cleaning on the Job
Michael K. Healey used to clean the bathroom at home. He was married for 20 years to Theresa Healey, with whom he had three children and who said that he cleaned everything from the bathroom to the bedroom to the kitchen without putting up a fuss. He even did the laundry.

Mr. Healey, a lieutenant in the Fire Department, did not mind cleaning on the job, either. (An aside: Firefighters clean the station house bathroom on a rotating basis.)

When Firefighter Healey became a lieutenant four years ago, he stopped changing bedsheets and washing dishes. Officers become so burdened with paperwork that officials discourage them from doing household chores. "It took him a while to get used to the new rules," Mrs. Healey said. "The guys do a lot of bonding while doing their work."

Lieutenant Healey, 43, was an 18-year veteran of the Fire Department and a member of Rescue Squad 41 in the South Bronx.

Not sure what to say?

There was a 9/11 memorial event in Glendale, Arizona where they held a tower challenge. I had the honor of carrying Lt. Michael Healey all through the 2071 steps around the arena to commemorate the number of steps in the 110 floors of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers. Together we vow to never forget. Rest in Peace Michael Healey.

On 9.10.22, I was part of the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. (home of the Green Bay Packers) Thank you to Pierce Manufacturing Inc. for putting on this special event. I was honored to represent Lieutenant Michael K. Healey, Rescue Squad 41 from the South Bronx, NY. I thought of his wife, Theresa (teenage sweethearts) and his 3 children; Michael, Katie and Matthew (who were in their teen years at his time of passing) I was honored to have climbed in memory...

Very special person. A true Hero.

Time heals all wounds but memories live on forever. Retired Teacher from South Ocean Middle School when Matthew was there in 2001,,,

In honor of Michael on Sept 11 2016 our family made home made cards and sent them to be delivered to children in children hospitals. We will never forget his sacrifice and service for others.

We Miss you so much my mom thinks and loves you so much

I have Lt Healey's name on my race bib for our city's Patriot 5K race. I am honored to be running for him and his memory.

Hi, I didn't know Michael, but I keep him and your family in my prayers each week. A few years ago our parish priest posted the names of the 9/11 victims and asked us to pick some one and keep that person in our thoughts. I chose Michael because my grandfather's name was Michael Healy, Brooklyn, NY. I grew up in North Jersey and now live in Indiana. I visited the WTC site last year for the first time and found the plaque with Michael's name. It was very emotional for me, and I hope that...
