Michael Hicks

For those that remember, Mike worked at San Diego Federal Savings in Grossmont Center, which is where I met him. Mike was a funny, outgoing and personable kind of guy that everyone enjoyed working with. We had some great times with the staff there and Mike was always making us laugh. I'd lost touch with Mike over the years and was saddened to read of his passing. If there are any other fellow SDF'ers out there, sign this book in rememberance of Mike.

Where do I start? Michael was my cousin (one of my favorites) and I wish and regret that I did not spend a lot more time with him over the years. Life became so busy, but I know that Michael knew that I loved him with all my heart. Today was a very difficult day, but after hearing tributes from his high school friends and even his football coach from so many years ago just reaffirms what everyone said and thought about Michael and that he was a genuinely caring, thoughtful, charming,...

Ok class of 72, remember the 6 year reunion? We had that because we were all worried for Mike. Well, I guess he showed us. What a gift he was to those who knew him. I'm sure that Mr. Goodpasture was there to put him on his "team" in heaven. Mike will be missed, but never forgotten.

Mike quickly became one of the gang at Northmont Elementary. It didn't matter what sport we were playing, he was there! I remember I chipped my tooth playing tetherball and ended up with a silver cap. I think he was the only one who didn't tease me about it!! What a great guy.

Good times, great times... Baseball, Football, Basketball we played em all organized and pick up games. There wasn't anything you couldn't do...extremely well. But most of all you were a genuine friend. And for the last 30-years your friends like Jody, Dennis, Suzie, Rae, Carl and Cindy and Steve Fulton have been there for you. I remember Mike from Northmont Elem school. He was always kind, smiling and ready to laugh with anyone. He was the kind of person who made you feel good when you were around him. I will always treasure the years we had together at Parkway and then Grossmont. When I came back in my senior year after being out sick for 2 years, Mike was still the same friendly person, which eased my re-entry at a time when I needed it. Thanks Mike, you will be missed.

I was fortunate enough to become friends with Mike while at Grossmont High, class of 1972. I like many others, was touched by his charming smile and charisma, he had a special way about himself.
After graduation, (I being a January Grad, I came back from Arizona where I was living at the time for the official graduation ceremony)Mike and I were on the same flight back to Phoenix, I remember he was going to visit with his grandparents and then off to college to play football, as the years...

The memories way to many to list. We have known and been very close friends since Parkway Junior High and good old Grossmont High School - Go Blue & Gold, class of 1972!! We will forever remember the handsome, strong fighter you have been through this long tough battle. You are now in the best hands of all. We will all miss you greatly and every time we ride our Harley we will remember you.
