Dear Cheryl, Peter, Pat, David, Augustine and John,

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Mike's death.

Mike had a special quality that I admired. I hope I never forget his calm, respectful, determined and warm style.

I remember Mike enthusiastically explaining the use of the standard deviation of task durations to come up with a reliable critical path for project planning when he was working on his Phd thesis.
