Michael D. Houghton

I knew my long-lost Antioch College friend Michael Houghton lived in the Hudson River Valley when I moved here to Hudson, NY, on the 1st of November, 2017. So I vowed to look him up one day. Now that day has arrived. I do a web search and the first thing I see is the obit. Michael left the same day I arrived. My condolences to his family whom I never met. From the obit, he clearly remained the same interesting, outstanding person I remember from so long ago. So sorry I missed him...

Michael was an inspiration for me beginning with our college days. So thoughtful, so gentle, so kind.

Seamus Mullen, So saddened to hear of Michaels passing. He was always in the moment whenever I met him on the street where both of our interests were totally consumed with old jazz albums. I was able to pick up a lot of information from him about our hobby. My son James, a music teacher in Westchester County was also impressed with Micks breath of knowledge. Remembering Michael fills my mind with such deep thoughts if pleasure and gratitude at his kindness and generosity and support of me both at times of turmoil and of great pleasure. For some time he was my "boss" in Upper Nyack.
His wisdom and warmth are part of my life as they surely are with so many others who knew him and loved him.

How happy are my memories of him walking proudly along the streets of Nyack with baby Emily in her stroller.

I will Miss his conversations and banter with me! I have a framed picture of the original bookstore hung above my bookshelf. I may even still have a $25. Gift certificate in my desk!

Thankful that I got to spend time with him and family awhile back in New York. He had inspired me to dive deeper into film/video making when I was younger. I had also heard of his travel to California which inspired me to travel and see new places this most recent summer. I wish I could have gotten to know him better, but appreciate the time we were able to share.
