Rivet Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc. - Merrimack Obituary

Michael Paul Hujsak, 67, of Amherst NH passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday July 25th, 2025 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mike was born in Denver Colorado on November 8, 1956 to Thomas and Beverly (Goodwin) Hujsak. He lived in many states including New Jersey, Alaska, Connecticut, Florida, Oklahoma and New Hampshire. He graduated from Union High School in Tulsa Oklahoma in 1975, and one year later moved to New Hampshire where he met his wife Lynne while working together at the JF McElwain shoe factory in Nashua. They were married for 45 years and enjoyed building their home and family together, splitting time between their home in Florida, vacationing with their kids and grandkids, and getting out on the golf course whenever possible.

Mike and Lynne enjoyed building and curating their home in Amherst with help from friends and family. Mike even bought a skid steer to do his own landscaping and plowing in the winter. He built Lynne a multi-tiered garden and his grandkids a swing set. His love for building/creating/engineering extended into his career as he worked as a plastic injection mold designer at Kerk Motion Products in Hollis NH for many years, and most recently at Wilcox Industries in Newington NH.

He was also heavily involved in coaching youth sports and he was a patched umpire and referee. Attending his granddaughters’ sports games was a recent passion of his and he made every game he could up until his illness did not allow. He loved golfing with work friends on Mondays and had his first hole-in-one just a few years ago during his Tuesday golf league play at Souhegan Woods in Amherst. He played foosball, loved skiing (especially with his granddaughters), the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and live music. He planned family vacations to Florida and Disney World, and golf trips to Las Vegas, Montreal, Arizona, North Carolina, just to name a few.

Mike was very competitive and loved playing monthly poker with his poker buddies, as well as going to Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun, and he was involved in several fantasy football and golf leagues, hosting draft parties and constantly reviewing his team for trade deals.

Mike loved making memories with his children.  He taught them how to ski, he was always ready to ride a roller coaster with them, and he coached many of their youth basketball and softball teams. When he wasn’t coaching, he was always on the sidelines.  This was true for his three granddaughters as well, and he cherished being their Papa.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother Beverly Hujsak, sister Linda Hujsak and brother Matthew Hujsak.

Mike is survived by his wife Lynne (Olsson) Hujsak, daughter Cheryl (Jim) Desrosiers of Dover NH, son Keith Hujsak of Amherst NH, daughter Tracy (Joey) Rapoza of Newton NH, granddaughters Olivia and Isla Desrosiers and Annora Hujsak, his father Thomas Hujsak of Goffstown, NH, sister Casey Goodridge of Hooksett, NH, sister Debbee Carter (Andy Mindel) of Salisbury, MA, brother Jon Hujsak (Sandra Contreras) of Nashua, NH, and brother Jim Hujsak (Jen Moquin) of Goffstown, NH, Sister-in-law Gwen (Frank) Garland of SC, Sister-in-law Shelley Wall of CO, brother-in-law Greg Coronis of AZ, many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Burial will be held private. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday August 16th at the Friendly Toast in Bedford NH, from 3-6pm.

Not sure what to say?

It's been many years since I've seen Michael and family, but I was so very sad to learn of his illness and passing. Your family is in my prayers during this painful time.

In 1940, I moved to a NH farm across the street from the Hujsak farm on Wire Road. I grew up with family members and became a long time friend with Tom Hujsak and his brother, Stanley. It saddens me to see so many of Tom's children and his wife pass away in recent years. I cannot imagine how painful it must be for Michael's and Tom's family. Please accept my condolences.

Smiles & Smiles to Go

I met Mike and Lynne about the time they were building their home in Amherst. Mike and I became fast friends after we got paired up at a draw your partner foosball tournament and became his regular partner for competitions. We won a small tournament not long after and it made us smile. Even though I moved away in 1985, the adventures never stopped.
We played foosball tournaments across the northeast for the next 15 years and enjoyed pretty good success....

I met Mike through golf, and Lynne. He always had a smile and a kind word..and a little ribbing too. I am sorry for your loss. He is gone too soon!

I was fortunate enough to get to know Mike through the golf league. He's one of the guys I'd go out of my way to get paired with, because with Mike you knew you'd be in for an entertaining round. And being competitive like Mike, I knew he enjoyed beating me as much as I did beating him when we were opponents. It was just about a year ago at this time when Mike skipped our scheduled match. When I asked him about it the next week, he apologized sincerely, and said his granddaughter had a...
