Michael Todd Hylton

Michael Todd Hylton, 53 of Strawberry Plains, TN formerly of Belfry, KY passed away tragically on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the Tug Valley Regional Medical Center.

Michael was born on September 5, 1968, in Wilmington, CA the son of Johnny and Carolyn Maynard Hylton of Hardy, KY. As a youth Michael was an outstanding athlete in the Belfry area, excelling in both basketball and football. His love and passion for sports and his community led him to coaching youth sports in the Belfry area. He left a lasting impact on many of the kids that he coached. Michael was not only a player and coach but an avid sports fan, with a love for his Belfry Pirates, Kentucky Wildcats, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Dodgers and Lakers. Michael proudly served his country as a United States Marine from 1992-1996, a title he held with great honor. Michael currently worked at Nyrstar Mining in TN. Of all his achievements in life, Michael was most proud of his children and grandchildren.

Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hayes and Opal Hylton, maternal grandparents, Cletus and Helen Maynard, as well as his infant granddaughter, Baby Girl Leedy

Including his parents, Michael is also survived by his children, Brittany (KJ) Slone of Belfry, KY, Summer (Ashton Leedy) Hylton of Belfry, KY and Mikey Hylton of Belfry, KY; his grandchildren, Kayden Slone, Kory Slone, Kolton Slone, Keely Slone and Beckham Leedy, who is on the way; his brother, JJ (Jenny) Hylton of East Williamson, WV; his sister, Tara Hylton of Hardy, KY; his fiancée, Lugena Sluss of Strawberry Plains, TN; his cousins, Brent Hylton, Jordan Hylton, Linda Maynard and Terry Wood; uncles, Estil Hylton and Smokie Maynard; aunt, Debbie Hylton; mother of his children, Patty Hylton, and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022, beginning at 1 PM at the Belfry High School Auditorium, with Roger Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY with Zane Smith, Zach Smith, Brent Hylton, Jordan Hylton, Carl Shelton, Joe Venturino, and Anthony Tackett serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimbo Smith, and Colin Kelly. Belfry Chapter #141 D.A.V will be conducting military grave rites at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday evening at the high school auditorium from 6-9 PM. R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, KY is serving the Hylton family.
