Clavin Funeral Home - Brooklyn Obituary

Michael Joseph Pizzuto, World War II Veteran, passed away peacefully at his home in Brooklyn on April 22, 2020 at age 98. Michael was born in Auburn, New York and moved to Brooklyn at age 6. He graduated from Manual Training High School before joining the army, where he served in both theatres of World War II as Chief Radio Operator in the US Army Signal Corps. aboard troop Transporters. Shortly after the war, he began his Wall St. career at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith, where he spent the next 40 years before retiring as Senior VP in 1987. He was pre-deceased by his sister Olga Hartman and brother Joseph. Michael was the beloved husband of the late Madaline Pizzuto for 60 years, and the loving father of five children: Michael, John, Gabrielle, Eugenia, Laura, and three grandchildren: Caroline, Nathalie, and Alexander. Michael took pride in the fact that in his entire 98 years, he miraculously NEVER had to spend a single night in the hospital, no doubt helped by his life-long passion for long distance walking.  He will be remembered as a kind, generous and gentle man with a sweet friendly nature. He will be missed every day by those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will hopefully be held in the coming months.
