Ruby Funeral Services & Crematories, Inc. Obituary

Michael Jerome "MJ" Jackson, 52, of Springfield, died at St. John's Hospital on March 29, 2022. He was born in Springfield, Illinois on August 22nd, 1969. He is the former husband of Aleka Farris and the son of Venessa Jackson and Oliver "O.P" Perry. In 1987, Michael graduated from Lanphier High School. During his time with us, he worked in a variety of jobs, including several years as a dietary assistant and three years as a carpenter.

Michael's smile and laughter will be cherished. He was a wonderful big brother and father who brought joy to everyone he met. In times of distress, he was also a fantastic friend. When he was around company, he enjoyed reminiscing about the "good ol' days" and discussing sporting events, particularly football and basketball. Michael was also a fantastic cook who enjoyed passing on his culinary knowledge to others around him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Perry, his sister, Kimberley Jackson-Webster, and his brother, Marlon Wayne Jackson.

Michael leaves behind his mother, Venessa Jackson; his children, Brieon Jackon, De'Ayrus Jackson, and Taye Farris; his brothers, David and Anthony "Tony" Jackson; sisters Nina Jackson, Olivia Perry, and Melissa "Missy" Johnson; and grandchildren,  a slew of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends to cherish his memories.
