An Office With a View
Michael G. Jacobs had been taking his four children to the World Trade Center since 1983, for visits to his office and for special occasions, like seeing the renovated Statue of Liberty or viewing the parade for the Olympics in 1984.

"We have pictures of all of that," said his oldest son, Michael Brady, 27. "It always fascinated me how high up we were."

Their father was an accountant, working as vice president for tax operations at Fiduciary Trust, with an office on the 90th floor of 2 World Trade Center. But Mr. Jacobs, 54, was interested in much more than the arcane laws of withholdings and deductibles. At home in Danbury, Conn., where he was born and raised, he was rebuilding a Volkswagen bug and learning to play the bagpipes. And he had a wry sense of humor, Mr. Brady recalled. "I'd ask him, 'How's the World Trade Center today?' because I used to love going up there, and he'd say: 'It's still here. Still here.' "

"He loved history so much," his son said. "Now he's a part of world history. I think he would like that, that his name is going to be remembered forever because he was a part of this."

Prep 61

I met Mike in Sept. of 1964 when we were freshmen at Fairfield University. We had many classes together.....he made it through, but I didn't. We became friends while we were in school. I lost track of Mike, went into the military, went to 'nam. In '71 I looked him up and gave him a call. We rehashed old times, talked about other classmates, relayed experiences. We said we'd like to get together in the future, but sadly that never happened. I think of him often, especially on 9/11. He...

I miss you more as the years go by. Love Dale

Mike and I were childhood friends in Danbury. He was a great guy.

I remember Mike taking the bus from Danbury to Fairfield Prep. He was few years behind me, but I'll always remember his smile when he got on the bus.

Matt

Always think of you around this time. Your mother, Florence, was my secretary at Bard Parker and I heard lots of stories of your growing up. She was so proud of you.

RIP Michael.

On Sept 11 of each year our Lions club in Kingstree, SC stands on the streets with flags in commemoration of those who died. At the top of each flag is a banner with the name of one of the victims. Yesterday I stood in rememberence of Michael Jacobs...I would have liked to have seen his Volkswagon Bug.
