Had the pleasure of meeting this incredibly knowledgeable wonderful storyteller while accompanying my young daughter on a class field trip to Rhododendron area for indian lore, pioneer and Oregon Trail history, then later into the Shanghai Tunnels of Portland. Oregon has lost a great one who memory will live on in the many legacies he was instrumental in creating.

Mike was an amazing story teller, and I have memories of my childhood of him taking my class on a tour of Old town and down into the tunnels. His passion for history was one of the reasons years later I volunteered with his tours of the Portland Underground. He just had a talent for telling local tails that will be missed. I hope wherever he is now he's regaling those around him with stories of life and his adventures.

He was a...
