Not sure what to say?

I just learned of Dr. Kaffer's passing and although late, wanted to express my condolences. Dr. Kaffer was a significant influence to me while I was a student at Spring Hill College. He shed light, understanding and perspective to literature that I had not experienced before. I'm sure his presence and humor is missed by many.

1961 may have been his first year at Spring Hill. It was my freshman year. He was very young, not much older than his freshmen. I remember Mike talking about flying planes low and slow in English class. Also he handled my re-enrollment when I want to the Yucatan with for 6 weeks to study Spanish and sociology in the 80's. And I think I recall him struggling to get across the use of the semi colon.

We remember with great fondness all the special times we shared with Mike at the Hill. We thought he was one of the most brilliant faculty members and a delightful person to be around. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

To correct an error, I'm a member of the Class of 1976 at Spring Hill College.

Sincerest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr. Kaffer. I thank God for his abundant life, his love of the written word, and his dedication as an educator. No one could take his class without being influenced by this multifaceted man. He will never be forgotten. RIP

Michael Kaffer participated in several study abroad programs with the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad, teaching literature classes in London and assisting with program administration. As a fellow faculty member on some of these programs, I observed how infectious his enthusiasm for Britain and British literature was and how he combined a lovely sense of humor with sensitivity to others. He also represented Spring Hill on the Board of Directors of CCSA where his dry wit and concern for...

Single Memorial Tree

I have many fond memories of Dr Kaffer and all of you from when I was young. My most recent memory of him, and the most precious, is of his presence when my father had to move into a nursing home. He visited many, many times, often just sitting and spending time with Dad because Dad's hearing wasn't good enough to hold real conversations. His steadfast presence was a blessing and a comfort to us. My condolences for your loss.

Dr. Kaffer was one of my inspirations while I attended classes at Spring Hill College. I offer my Deepest Sympathies to his family and former Colleagues at Spring Hill. I remember him with humor, deep respect, and many fond memories from our WINGS Classes at Spring Hill in the 1980s.
