Not sure what to say?

He was the starting second baseman for Marshall University's baseball team, the first team in Marshall history to make an NCAA appearance. He had a great impact on our team and me personally. He will be missed. CR Burgess Teammate and Friend

Whenever I think of Mike, I think of this article. Great teammate.

We were so sorry to hear of Mike´s passing. Mike was a wonderful longtime Volunteer of Union Mission and we are forever grateful of the impact he has made throughout the years in the lives of countless men and women who have gone through our programs. He was friends with many of our staff as well. I consider it a privilege to have known Mike. I will always cherish the numerous conversations we had especially when talking about our walk with the Lord. Praying that God will give you peace...

So very sorry to hear of Mike´s passing. My thoughts and prayers go to you and the family during this difficult time. He was a good friend and teammate. He loved his 442. He drove it to Carbondale and back for the NCAA tournament in 1973. RIP Mike & Thanks for the memories.

Yet another of the beloved Dogtown boys joins the sandlot team in Heaven. I learned a lot from Michael and admired him. True Dogtowners everywhere are hurting today. We didn´t have much but our bond is forever strong. I have absolutely no doubt that he and Tommy are planning a homecoming game or another night of cruising in the W-31in Paradise. All of us guys will see each other again. Michael exemplified the meaning of a good person which was fully displayed at his very moving...

So sorry to hear of Mike´s passing. A great guy and outstanding baseball player! He will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers to your family. God Bless! Coach Bob Morgan, coach at Marshall in 1973 NCAA team.

I send my condolences to Janice and family. I've known Mike since the 1940's. We spent much of our youth playing baseball, football and basketball on the fields at Grandview along with Moocher, T. Long, B. Long, Skip, Butch, Pug, Jerry, Billy, Canny, Babs, Eugene and so many others. So many memories of Mike and the Dogtown crew. Right now, I see Mike driving a two-tone green 1965 Oldsmobile 442. Cruise in peace, Mike!

Mike and Moocher were icons in Dogtown back in the day. Both athletic, friendly, and great neighbors. He helped run a summer playground program at Grandview Elementary for several years and made a positive impact on many children and the community. Never met anyone, young or old, that he would not help out in any way. Thanks for the memories Mike.

Janice, I´m shocked and saddened by the news of Mikes passing. It seems impossible that this happened so suddenly. Even though I haven´t seen you guys in quite a while, I think of you and Mike often. Hoping that the knowledge that he was such a wonderful Christian man and loved by so many will be some comfort. Sending you love, strength and prayers to you from Beth and I at this extremely difficult time.
