Michael Kell Obituary

RICHMOND, IN - Michael L. Kell passed away on June 6, 2023, at the age of 66, surrounded by his family at Reid Hospital.

Michael was born on June 24, 1956, in Greenville, Ohio to the late John and Marge Kell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Bessie Hesson.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Capek) Kell of Greenville; his children Andrew Kell & Jessica Durrance of Louisville, Kentucky, and Stephen Kell & Alexandra Will of Toledo; his siblings, Patricia "Patty" & Doug Fellers of Greenville, Pamela Strait & Janet Albers of Kettering, and Mark & Lisa Kell of New Port Richey, Florida.

Michael graduated from Anderson College and began teaching for Ansonia local schools. He taught first grade for twenty-five years and then taught fifth and sixth grade social studies for nine years. He was the creator of the "Kids that Care", a class that completed public service projects for over five years.

Michael was an active member at Ansonia Church of God where he served as a trustee, a part of the worship and drama team, a part of children's ministry, and was actively involved in Operation Christmas Child. He also previously served at Salem Church of God as a member of the worship and drama team, the coordinator for the church's journey bags, and a member of the Salt & Light Drama Company.

He was very active in volunteering at Wayne Healthcare where he served as the Escort Coordinator and previously served as officer of the Hospital Auxiliary. Michael was a lover of music, drama, and the arts. He loved to read, walk, and play Words with Friends. More than anything he loved traveling with his wife Mary to see new and exciting places, especially Key West. He was a loving husband and father and loved his family deeply. Michael was very excited to be a grandfather.

Following his lifelong spirit of service, Michael was able to be an organ donor. His family would like to express their deep gratitude to the excellent staff at Reid Hospital CCU and the Indiana Donor Network who went above and beyond in their care for Michael. Also, they would like to thank first responders, Wayne Healthcare, and the care flight team.

Services for Michael will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday June 16, 2023, in the Ansonia First Church of God 750 South Main Street Ansonia, Ohio with Pastor Rick Rufenacht officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church until 7:00 p.m.

Mike was always fun. I remember a time that he and I were taking a class in college in which we had to teach gym class at a parochial school in Anderson. We took turns planning, and things went well. One day we arrived and found that we were going to be observed for our grade. We quickly discovered that neither of us had planned. We faked it, and we faked it well. We both got an "A" and a big laugh at our luck.
Mike was a loyal friend who kept in touch during the years. We pray for strength, peace, and good memories for you, Mary. You two were so good for each other.

Oh, Miss Capek how my heart aches to learn of Mr. Kell's passing. He was always smiling and so kind. When you and he would stop at my workplace he'd ask, "What are you singing today, Sharon?"
I am blessed to have known both of you.
