Carla
Anthony and I were married 22 years ago in Ballarat and were lucky enough to have Mick and Roger Hillman sing at our wedding. I will never forget Mick's amazingly moving voice or his gentle and giving nature. He was a truly beautiful soul and we will forever cherish his part in our special day. Sending our love to you and your daughter, Karen and Anthony Butts.

Michael...I'm sure you're in a beautiful place where the really good folk go... maybe you're entertaining with your gorgeous voice and extraordinary music. Your songs are being sung by me and others here in Ireland. I played "Turn the Boat" for Christie Moore's sister Anne Rynne and she learned it and sings it now too. EVERY time I sing one of your songs (in a Singing Circle or gathering), I tell the folks your name and a little bit about you and so you live on. You are in your daughter,...

And so, another year has passed...four now, and you are always with us Michael...always will be. Miss you dear friend.

Michael, we do miss you greatly. We are thinking today, also, of your loved ones and sending our prayers and warmest thoughts to them all.

I am sitting here listening to Hearth for only the second time having found Michael's work very recently. I am so grateful to have found this remarkable artist and soul. His legacy will live on for generations and bring hope and inspiration to many. Thank you to his family for sharing him with us. Ath-thruas; I hope our humble gratitude brings some comfort in your loss. Michael's music is medicine for the soul.

Two years and we're still having trouble believing it!

Michael, although it has been two years now, and great memories abound, we still miss your gentle presence.

It is great that you and your music continue to be heard with many musicians recording and performing your songs, and radio presenters playing your recordings.

The posthumous release of the double CD "Hearth", and its launch, with Shane Howard, Carl Pannuzzo, Chris While and others, at the NFF at Easter this...

I smile when I think of Michael Kennedy. I feel invigorated and challenged by his words. His music sings to my heart and lifts my spirits. The sounds of 'Hearth' have been in the 6 stacker since the 2015 National Folk Festival. It is simply brilliant, from the intimate live Scarlet Robin to Carl's gutsy 'Til the fire comes'. Hearth has such instrumental and vocal presence. The welcoming, hopeful 'Morning (dawn)' shows Michael's soul and the sweet, haunting harmonies of 'Lay Fallow' are sung...

Lovely memories of days spent in Michael's (Mr. Kennedy's) Drama classes at Sacred Heart College, Ballarat. I feel blessed to have been taught by this remarkable man. The last time I caught up with Michael was in 2007 at the Yackandandah Folk Festival...I hadn't seen him since leaving Sacred Heart in 1990. I was delighted that he remembered me & we enjoyed a lovely conversation about old school days! Love to Carla & Ailish xoxo

A beautiful tribute to Michael and his songs at the National Folk Festival on 3 April 2015.
