Mike moved back to Christiansburg from Atlanta, to be the musical director at New River Valley Community church. I volunteered to help him move. one of our congregation had relatives in Atlanta. I drove down with them. they dropped me off with Mike and his family. My condolences to Mikes children and mother. I only learned of his passing today. I worked with Mike in RU Admissions for a few years and remember how pleasant he always was. I remember his greatest love was his children and then his music. I know he will be deeply missed.

Mike Kirby was my music teacher and friend. He was a very skilled and accomplished guitarist. His lessons were very important to my development as a musician. May his beautiful soul rest in peace

Mike, We were reminiscing only several months ago. The news of your passing was devastating. You were the most kind and talented man I´ve ever known. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to make music with you. I will never forget your teaching spirit and your infectious smile. You are loved and I will miss you greatly.
