Mike & Murph summer 1962

Mike and I were friends throughout our school years at Strasburg. I went on several vacations to Canada at Big Pine Lodge with the Kuntzs. Included is picture of Mike and Murph from summer of 1962 with their family boat in the river just out from their cabin.
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and be gracious to you.

I remember Mike well. He was best friends with my brother, Jerry Gardner. I remember him coming to our house many times. They would play chess and I was 8 years younger, and I would sit by them and watch. I would play with the pieces they discarded. I remember Mom picking up my brother at his house, they had a boat/trailer in the drive as I recall. Jerry may have gone water skiing and also played tennis with Mike. I had a crush on him as a young pre-teen, I thought he was handsome. I...

I remember Mike very well. It was my senior year at Strasburg Franklin High.
And I was in teacher Bob Shahane's Algebra II class. Both Mike and Jerry Gardner, juniors at the time, were in that class with me. If it weren't for Mike, along with Jerry, working out and doing the homework problems in class everyday, I probably would have not made it through that Algebra II class. Mike was extremely bright, smart, and helpful. My sympathy goes out to his wife and family.

Mike was pretty much the leader of the pack. We always seemed to gather at Kuntzie's place where Ma Kuntz would always make you eat something. Pa Kuntz would let us pile into his '64 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible and watch as Mike drove us down the road. (What was he thinking?) We would be on the tennis courts in New Philly until the lights went out. And then there was out of state adventures where road sign rearranging seemed like the thing to do. Back home there was late night...

My deepest sympathy to Mike's family. He was my brothers best friend. We went to the prom together my sophomore year and double dated with my brother Jerry. Carole Gardner Kovacs.

Mike and I were very good friends growing up and shared many fun filled fishing experiences with his family in Canada at his uncles cabin. I will always remember these vacations and the kindness showed too me by his mom and dad. May you find comfort in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and bring you his Shalom Peace.
