Michael Lagios

Dr Lagios was the pathologist who gave me a second opinion on my breast cancer biopsy after my initial one was read incorrectly so I was able to get another surgery. I´m alive and healthy 31 years later. I will always be grateful to him!

Dr. Mike Lagios was not only a Renaissance man, he was the penultimate patient advocate and most highly respected, competent breast pathologist a woman could ever have. He pioneered the 1st comprehensive breast center in 1981at Children's Hospital of SF, now Cal Pacific/Sutter with colleagues Drs Phil Westdahl, Fred Margolin, Patricia Kelly and others. Mike was a long time Sunrise swimmer at the mighty South End. He often rode his bike in the dark so he could participate in daily swims. His monthly, richly illustrated, swim calendar was always awaited with great anticipation. For all his accomplishments, Mike almost burned the club down one New Years day when he decided to roast (on broil) a whole suckling pig. He was unique!
