Jagers and Sons Funeral Home Obituary

Michael W. “Spike” Lambert, 72, of Albany, died Tuesday morning, September 16, 2025 at his home surrounded by family and comfort.  Born April 15, 1953 in Athens, he was the son of the late Ernest Lambert and Betty Martin Lambert.

A 1971 graduate of Athens High School, he was employed with GTE/ Verizon/Frontier telephone companies for over 30 years.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War where he was a Specialist 5.  He also served in the Ohio Air National Guard in Chillicothe where he was a Tech 5 Sergeant.  He was an avid fan of Ohio University Hockey where he was a season ticket and blueline booster club member for over 30 years.  He thoroughly enjoyed fishing with family and friends, attending Athens Bulldog football games and attending auctions. There was never a “quick trip” anywhere with Mike as he would always run into friends and that led to long conversations and talks of memories. Mike was quick to help others and did not expect the same in return; he truly was a giving soul.

Mike is survived by two daughters, Erin Michelle Lambert of Albany and Ellen (David) Bee of The Plains; a son, Nathan (Ashley) Lambert of Obetz; three grandchildren, Ashton Lambert, Aiden Lambert and Wyatt Lambert; he is also survived by the love of his life, Jeanie Lambert.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Jane Lambert; and a brother, Alan Rocky Lambert.

His family would like to thank The James Comprehensive Cancer Center and Shriver’s Hospice Care for the wonderful treatment that their loved one received.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Alexander Cemetery, Hebbardsville with Rev. Phil Foster officiating.  Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.  Military Rites will be conducted by VFW Post 9893 and American Legion Post 21 at the cemetery.  Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.
