Michael E. Lanter, 31, of Carmel, Indiana tragically lost his life on May 16, 2015.
He was a 2002 graduate of Carmel High School where he played football and baseball. He was also active in Peer Facilitating, helping those with special needs. He attended the Indiana University Kelley School of Business Honors Program, majoring in finance and minoring in economics; he was a member of the Investment Banking Workshop and as an alumnus, was an active mentor to those who followed him. He was a Founding Father of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, reestablishing the chapter at Indiana University Bloomington, where he served as recruitment chair and intramural chair. He studied abroad at the University of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia.
Upon graduation in 2006, from Indiana University with Honors and Distinction, he became an investment bank analyst with ThinkEquity LLC in San Francisco. In 2007 he was offered and accepted a position with Goldman Sachs in New York where he worked in central funding as a trader on the secured funding team and went on to assume responsibilities as an analyst with the corporate funding team. In 2011 he was accepted to the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where he received his MBA in 2013. He most recently served as a consultant for the hedge fund Angelo, Gordon & Co. in NYC before starting his own consulting company earlier this year.
Michael was passionate about sports, friends, and family, and expressed these feelings well which can be found on his Facebook page. Michael was a special person chosen early by God to join those in heaven who have passed before him.
He will be sorely and forever missed by his countless friends and family, mother Lisa Baldwin, father Earl Lanter, M.D., step-mother Sue Lanter, M.D., step-father Charles Baldwin, sister Jennifer Lanter Stewart, D.O., brother-in law Michael Stewart, brothers: Jim Marten and Matthew Lanter, nephew Owen Stewart, grandparents: Mrs. Helena Lanter, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Baldwin and Mr. & Mrs. Mike Emigh as well as his aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral InformationFuneral Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 21 in St. Luke's United Methodist Church, with calling there from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
Private Burial will be in Carmel Cemetery, Carmel, IN.
