Michael Lavertu

Michael Paul Lavertu, age 66, is riding a Harley with the Angels, he passed away the evening of August 17, 2016 with his family and friends at his side. Michael was born July 7, 1950 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina to Bruno and Claudia Richling LaVertu. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era; worked as a custodian with the Las Cruces Public Schools and later went on to cross country truck driving from where he retired two years ago. Michael always had a love for motorcycles, though he did not own one in recent years, he was always a Sultan. Michael was a man who lived for his family and through their joy, he found his.
Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Cindy LaVertu; his brother, Jon LaVertu (Cecilia); sisters, Jeannie Lesko, Ann Sidner (Lee); surrogate daughter, Maggie Garcia; daughters, Chelsea Burns (Josh), Ryan Morales (Daniel. Other survivors include six grandchildren who will miss him tremendously, CJ, Lily, Caleb, Amy, Tripp and Santana as well as numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
An Inurnment of Cremains Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Columbarium with military honors accorded by a New Mexico National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League – El Perro Diablo Detachment. Immediately after the service, family and friends are invited to come to 1160 Boling 88007 Linda Vista Estates (Picacho Hills area).
