Mr. Michael Leo Boyd


Mr. Michael Leo Boyd, age 61, a resident of 455 Maple Street, Pantego, died Friday, June 24, 2016.

A memorial service will be held 6:00 PM Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Wilkinson Church of Christ, Pantego, conducted by Pastor Lee Blackburn and Robert Spruill.   The family will receive friends following the service.

The following will serve as honorary pallbearers: Vernon Bell, Eddie Bryant Harris, Norman Allen, Anthony Allen, Hallas Boyd, Whit Howell, Jerry Blackburn, and Vernon Daw, Jr.

Mr. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on April 23, 1955, son of the late Edward Leo Boyd and Doris Britt Boyd. He was a graduate of Pungo Christian Academy and a member of Wilkinson Church of Christ. Mr. Boyd was a farmer. In his spare time, he enjoyed being “Poppy” to his granddaughters. 

On May 6, 1977, Mr. Boyd married Kathy Blackburn, who survives.

Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Kathy of the home; two sons, Britt Boyd and wife, Donna and daughters, Ella and Ava and soon to be Lea all of Bath, Bradley Boyd of Pantego and Hollie McDonald of Roper; two brothers, Eddie Boyd and wife, Tinker, Ricky Boyd and wife, Robin all of Pantego; and three nephews, Jamie Boyd, Adam Boyd and Jeremy Boyd. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Harlen Blackburn; sixteen brothers and sister in laws; and a legion of Blackburn Nieces and Nephews who will greatly miss their “Uncle Michael”.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by a nephew, Patrick Boyd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reid Sasnett Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Pungo Christian Academy, 1009 West Main Street, Belhaven, N.C. 27810.
