So sad...Just found out...Had just re-connected with him through facebook a few months ago, and he made me laugh as always...We met in Banff , 30 or so years ago, and remained good friends for the duration..The last time he e-mailed me, he told me how much he loved his children and was doing eveything he could to make shure they had the best of everything...And i know he did exactly that.You are one of a kind Mike......Sorry I never told you how special you are.Marie

Shocked and saddened. Michael was a great friend and brother,he will be forever missed. Deepest sympathies to all the Matchett family.

I have many fond memories of Mike but none better than going thru the mountains in that old car of his with Mike, Greg and Brian….and spending quality time in Banff.

We were so very sad to hear this news today. To the entire Matchett Family please know we share in your pain and sorrow and understand too greatly the loss you are feeling. Spent a lot of time with Michael in Banff. What a great bunch of memories! He will always be remembered for his big smile and huge laugh! Gone too soon. My condolences to all of his family.
