WAPELLA - Michael "Mike" Paul Maxey, 76, of Wapella passed away peacefully on Monday (Nov. 11, 2024) at home surrounded by family.

I read the most wonderful tribute to Mr. Maxey. It was interesting and can I say entertaining? I wish I had known him! It said he was born in Sullivan, Indiana...my father was born in Carlisle, Indiana. That area holds many memories for me and was a special area...now I know why he was so special!! Sending prayers for strength and peace.

Growing up Mike was a very good friend. I haven't seen Mike in many years. but I will always remember many nights that I rebounded for him on the old basketball court across from his house. In 1964, 65, 66, Mike was a true Mustang, doing well in all the sports he played. My heartfelt condolences to his family, may he rest peace.
