I am soo sorry for your loss! I went to St Vincent´s High School with him! He was a wonderful guy!!!

I was his chiropractor and a family friend for a few years. I have been overseas for five years and lost track of him. Just tried to find him on the internet and here I am as sad as I could be. A great member of the society. An excellent family man and a very knowledgeable professor. My condolences to dear Cinda and all the Mckenna family. Adam Poorshafiee what a loss !!

I was a sleeper at highway station with Captain Mike from 1970-72 and learned so many valuable lessons from him, about fire fighting certainly, but also about integrity and kindness. He was a hugely positive influence.

I took classes from Mike at Mission college back in 83-84. He was an "Old-School Fire guy" with great stories with humor and seriousness mixed in about doing real Job activities. I appreciated Mike's life lessons for a job I did for 30 years.

When I was a volunteer with the Citrus Heights FD, I believe Mike was the designated examiner with the DMV and he signed off on my class B license for me to drive the aerial ladder. We also fought the only general alarm I participated in. He was a good fireman.

In 1977-1978 Mike was my instructor at the interim campus for San Jose City/ Mission College. He was a great instructor. One incident that stands out was during one lecture,Mike forgot he lit his tobacco pipe and stuck it in has back pocket,pretty soon smoke was coming from it,I alerted him that his pants were smoking,when he pulled out the pipe calmly and puffed on it and we all had a great laugh during class. I learned more than a few life lessons while in his class and cutting Fire Breaks ...

Mike was my Instructor at San Jose City College and Mission College interim campus. I will never forget in 1977 we learned more life lessons in those days that still are valuable now today.One time in our class I noticed smoke coming from his back pocket of his pants,when I alerted him during class, He was not worried, He calmly removed his tobacco pipe and drew a couple of puffs,not shook,He exclaimed,"I wondered where all that smoke was coming from!" I will never forget Mike,He was A great...

Great guy, so much energy, humor, and an engaging instructor.
Taught me a lot at the Mission College Fire Science program.
One heck of a man.
