Michael Patrick McKeon Sr. Services will be at 10:15 a.m. Monday at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg, and will continue with 11 a.m. Mass at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Interment will be private. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The life of this extraordinary man began on Nov. 9, 1942. Michael was born to Annie, nee Barrett, and Anthony McKeon. He passed away on Feb. 28, 2007. Michael is survived by his best friend and wife of 38 years, Nancy, nee Anne Ruddy; and his beloved children, Megan Maureen and Michael Patrick Jr., both of Chicago. Michael retired from the Home Juice Company as Chief Accountant. He worked as a part time Police Auxiliary Officer/Supervisor with the Schaumburg Police Department for more than 30 years. He was a Knight of Columbus, serving for many years as Financial Secretary for Council 6964 and Treasurer of the Council's 4th Degree. Michael was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma in 2002 and underwent many experimental chemotherapy treatments at the University of Chicago. His optimistic attitude and spirit will be missed by fellow patients, nurses and doctors. He was a loyal friend, caring family member and an outstanding father. He had a wonderful smile and a twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes. He loved visiting his treasured Ireland with his family. "God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around him and whispered "Come with Me". With tearful eyes we watched him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best." Memorials may be made to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, P.O. Box 91840, Santa Barbara, CA, 93190-1840, www.curemeso.org Funeral info, 847-882-5580 .

Not sure what to say?

It is Saint Patrick's Day! Oh, my goodness! Michael's first, in heaven. When I hear thunder this Spring, I will think that it is because he and my dear friends Bo Bohmert and Joe LaRoche, also first timers, will be rolling around with laughter, up in the clouds. These guys had not enough time to tell all their good stories on this earth.
I remember a few and look forward to sharing these and hearing more.

Dear McKeons--

I am so sorry for your loss. I trust your dear husband, father and friend found his way home. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God continue to bless your family and hold you in His loving embrace.

Love & Peace,
Peter

Dear Nancy, Megan and Michael,
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. There are no adequate words to comfort those who grieve but may your memories bring you peace.

F. Zajack Family

The the McKeon family; I had the honor and pleasure of knowing Mike and working with him for the past 21 years at the PD. He was an extraordinary man and a fighter. I loved that Irish twinkle in his eyes. He will be truely missed by me and his police family.

Nancy, Megan and Michael,

I knew you father for more than the 27 years I have been working at the Schaumburg Police Department. His warm heart and patience was proof how he lived his life. Courage, fortitude, and the never ceasing attitude to teach us all good things will always remain with me when I think of your husband and father. Michael Sr. was an icon and will be missed within our police family and as my friend. The Lord has taken this champion into his eternal place but fret not...

Nancy, Megan and Michael,
I knew Mike from Home Juice. My mom (Dee Giordano) worked there for many years, and I worked there part time for about six years. Mike was my "boss". He was an exceptional man and a great teacher. I learned so many things from him. He will be missed by many that knew him. My prayers go out to each of you at this time.

Nancy,Megan and Mike,
We were very saddened to hear the news this morning. Having worked with Mike for 26 years, I have a lot of very fond memories. Our Home Juice Family used to have some great times together and Mike was definitely one of the reasons why. I wish that we could be there with you. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love,

Nancy, Megan and Mike, My wife Marilyn and I had the pleasure of working with Mike for many, many years at the Home Juice Co. He was always quick with a smile and a helping hand. Mike loved his work almost as much as he loved you, his family. The world is a better place because Mike was here.
