Just learned of Mr. Meltzer's passing. He was probably the best teacher I ever had in high school. Although quiet, he always had the total attention of the class and no discipline problems. I always marveled at that. His dry humor always made me laugh. He was the consummate educator and because of everything he taught me, I was able to breeze through freshman physics at SU. I remember my first day in physics class I was told by my family to let him know I was John and Phylis Leone's granddaughter and he expressed that he really loved them and had lived nearby when growing up. He also used to paint houses with my Uncle. He was one of my favorite teachers of all time at ES-M.

The Great Mr. Meltzer is one of my rare unforgettable teachers, who crafted the most amazing tales to help us understand physics, & he was funny without even trying. What sticks in my mind is the brilliant way he used humor with this amazing stoic style that naturally made us laugh, and then he would flash us a brief cheesy smile that tied the whole routine together very nicely!
