Not sure what to say?

Professor Navin definitely stood out as one of my favorite professors. Not only was he an excellent teacher, who possessed great knowledge and a sense of humor, he showed a genuine interest in students and was not the least bit pretentious. He was very supportive and encouraging, and always happy to help or give advice. I am glad I got to experience his kindness. Like many in the Dickinson Community, I will miss Professor Navin and all of his wonderful qualities.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I worked with Dean Navin when I was a student and he was in charge of the Admissions office, and was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. He was a great professor and a warm and caring man. He will be greatly missed.

Joan - I'm so sorry to hear of Michael's death. He was a wonderful professor who became a cherished colleague and friend. I was very glad to talk with him recently and be reminded of his warmth and humanity.

Mike was not only an accomplished Professor of Law, but he was a truly great friend and co-worker. I will cherish fondly all of the wonderful memories I have of Mike and be thankful for the privilege of having known him. He will be missed by many friends, co-workers and especially by his family.

Professor Navin was an inspirational teacher and a great person. I will miss his humor, wit, and guidance.

I met Professor Navin when he gave a presentation about law school to a small group of Penn State students. (This was in 2000 when he was working at University Park.) Instead of standing at a podium to speak, he arranged the chairs in a circle and sat down. He began by asking us to introduce ourselves. He asked every “audience” member about his/her educational background and why each person was interested in law school. Professor Navin took an interest in every person’s story. Only after...

Professor Navin was a kind man and wonderful teacher. He will be missed by many in the Dickinson Community.

Dear Joan,

Karla, Ali, Katherine, and I express our deepest condolences to you and your family.

We met you and Mike in Paris when we were together on the faculty in the USD summer Paris program. You both touched our lives with your humor, conversation, and zest for life. Our family accompanied the Navins on the field trips into the French countryside. Mike was a truly gifted teacher and we learned much from him. He was a kind, gentle, genuine human being who gave...
