Not sure what to say?

Mike was one of my BEST friends for the last twenty-five plus years. As a mentor we journeyed through the leadership of Bennett’s Creek and Chesapeake EMS. We took on the challenge of becoming Paramedics together. As a Supervisor he was a counselor and coach. But more importantly, as a friend he was the brother I never had.

Like so many others have stated, Mike was always willing to help, whether family, friend, or just someone in the community who was in need, he was always...

A good man which had a need to
help others. God bless his family in time of loss.

We have lost a great friend in the passing of Mike; but I know that the family knows how much everyone cared and liked him. He did so much for our community, friends and family. He was always there when you needed him. I have fond memories of Mike and a gift I'll always have...Meg. Prayers to the family and know I'm only a call away.

Dear Gail,

I trust that I have helped you, and those who Mike loved and cherished, to preserve his last moments on this Earth in pictures and videos. My photographs document just how much Mike was loved and honored by those who gathered to show their respect for him. May our fears of suffering be diminished by knowing that there are many with trials greater than our own. Life is short; let us fill it with love.

daddy i love you very much and miss you more and more each day! you were the best daddy, you could joke like brother but love like a father. My life will never be the same without....my best friend! :(
love your one and only daughter <3

Mike, my husband, my mentor, my best friend; I miss your touch, your smile, your laughter....but I know that you are healthy with no suffering & that one day we'll be together again. Until then, sleep well my prince...I love you~!

Mike will never be forgotten. He was a true professional. Mike and my father attended the Chesapeake Virginia Fire Department Rookie School together in 1981. Mike would later become a supervisor in the Emergency Medical Services Division. In 1996, when my father was killed on the Job, EMS Captain Mike New was the one who transported my father and John Hudgins from the scene. Mike, during his life and career cared a great deal for others and lived his life accordingly.

Mike was one of the first people I met when I moved to Virginia in 1982. I had the pleasure of knowing him and working with him, especially during my years at CFD. After I moved away in 1990, Mike and I still kept in touch; whenever I was in Tidewater, he and I would get together. And when my parents moved from Portsmouth to Florida, he got a few friends together and helped them pack.

He was a wonderful friend and father, and I will truly miss him.

Gail, I was saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I know this is a difficult time for you, and your family, but please take comfort in knowing you are being thought of and prayed for by many. God Bless you and your family.
