Michael James Noonan was born July 4, 1947 to James and Mary Evelyn (Mehan) Noonan in Emmetsburg, Iowa.  He was raised on a farm near Ayrshire, IA.  He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1972.  After graduation he served in the U.S. Army from 1972-1979.  He completed Special Forces training (Green Berets) in 1973.  He was assigned as the 5th Special Forces Group Dental Surgeon until 1974 when he was reassigned as Dental Surgeon for the 7th Special Forces Group in Panama Canal Zone.  He received the Master Parachutist Badge, National Defense Service Medal, and Special Forces Jumpmaster and Military Free Fall ratings.  He passed Airborne and Space Flight Operations courses.  In 1979 he completed his Army service in Texas as a Major.

In 1980 he opened a private dental practice in Wilmington, NC and from 1982-2007 a dental practice in Fayetteville NC.  In 2007 he opened a dental practice in West Plains, MO until 2015 when he moved to Pennsylvania and practiced dentistry until Dec. 2022.  Dr. Noonan was experienced in all areas of general dentistry with emphasis on cosmetics, prosthetics and oral surgery.  He was awarded an Associate Fellowship by the World Clinical Laser Institute.

Michael is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dawn Bidoli and their children James (Jay) and Lynlee.  Also surviving is his daughter Laura and her husband Mark Olinger.  Other survivors are brothers Daniel Noonan (Diane), Edward Noonan (Marilyn) and sisters Jean Poland, JoAnn Higgins (Rich), Geri Lynn White (Dan), Nancy Sikora and Jana Noonan.  In addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins and Aunt Rosie Leichtnam.

Michael loved hunting, fishing, flying his airplane and riding his motorcycle.  He said he would work until he no longer could and he accomplished that with 51 years as a practicing dentist.

I am so sorry to read this. I didn’t know Michael but he evidently had a full life.
