Not sure what to say?

"A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world But then it flies again And though we wish it could have stayed... We feel lucky to have seen it.' Michael, The memory of you will be treasured always. Until we meet again........... Fan-Fan

I first met Michael(who we always called Mick) in September 1968 when starting at Manchester Uni. 2 sets of long standing school friends Paul and I from Yorkshire and Ak and Mick from Coventry,we joined together for a fun packed 3 undergraduate years. As a group of 4 we often referred to ourselves as "the lads" even survived sharing a flat together in year 2! Mick had a real zest for life, was always entertaining and there was never a dull moment in his company. There was no doubt that those...

I first met Michael through an IMF mission he led to Sierra Leone. I was a special appointee at the Fund, from the Bank of Botswana, in 1996/97. Four years later, I returned to the Fund on a permanent appointment. During the period of my engagement, apart from occasionally saying hi to Michael in the corridors of the Fund, my memories cantered around the Sierra Leone mission, where I met Cynthia. She was, I think, leading a World Bank mission that overlapped with the Fund´s. That is where our...

Thank you for your service Michael. May your soul rest in peace

I had the pleasure of working together with Michael on what Burke Dillon called her dream team. We spent almost 200 days together in Zamibia, where we negotiated the first arrears clearance program. Michael was both great fun and a source of inspiration. He was a fantastic colleague and friend. I had the good luck of staying in contact with Michael, Cynthia and Burke after I left the IMF. The stories of our time together were already good, when they occurred, but got even better as the years...

Michael (always Mick to me) was a friend from age 11 when we were at secondary school. He plus Frank, Tref and I were a gang of 4 for over half a century. I have fond memories of fishing and trainspotting with him as teenagers, as well as sharing a flat at Manchester University as undergraduates. He was a great lover of music especially Punk. He will be greatly missed. RIP Mick from your mate Ak.

Colleague for many years at the IMF, African Department. Always a pleasant, kind, bright gentleman who only brings the best memories of those years. With sadness, I send my deepest condolences.

I would like to send my sincere condolences to Michael´s family. I worked with Michael at the International Monetary Fund. He was such a kind and helpful colleague and friend to me. Yours truly, Jane Ann Wein

Michael will be sorely missed by all who knew him as he had a real joie de curve and lived life to the full. He was a true real friend of mine since thr age of 11 when we were at school together in Coventry. He recently told me that we only went to school to annoy the teachers! I am so proud of what he has achieved with his life and so pleased to have become friends with his soul mate Cynthia. Rest in peace Mick .
