AMHERST -- Michael E. O'Brien, 49, of Thornton's Ferry Road, died Feb. 21, 2011, after a long illness.
He was born June 28, 1961, in Springfield, Mass., to Robert and Clare O'Brien.
He was raised in Wilbraham, Mass., and graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School in 1979.

The laughs, the jokes, the faces, and the moments we shared that I will never forget. You brought joy into peoples lives by just being you, you brought laughter and kindness everywhere you went, and for this I thank you…. You made me see life as people should see it; A gift that we should enjoy!!! I didn’t know you all that long but yet long enough to know that you impacted peoples for the better, and I’m glad to be able to say that I knew you!
